St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton ECO Program
St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton’s Team Environmental Vision and Action (EVA) was launched in 2008 and was dedicated to promoting the greening of health care, both at the grassroots level and within the hospital’s broader strategic vision. In 2014 the program underwent restructuring to elevate it from a grassroots organization into something more structured.
Driven to manage waste sustainably, the program facilitates current Sustainable Waste Management Strategy, and additionally, is the primary driver in a corporate culture shift towards sustainability and environmental stewardship through waste management, energy conservation, water conservation, and social outreach initiatives.
St. Joe’s engaged Intent to rebrand the program, bringing it up to the level of the hospital’s brand, and to create a series of informative and promotional materials to inspire and educate the St. Joe’s community on how they can make a difference with simple behavioural changes. The ECO (Environmental Cooperative Program) was launched in September 2014 and has begun to already have an impact on the waste management at St. Joe’s Charlton campus.
